Mercy Mavericks Take Part in Historic ECAC Flag Football Media Day
The Mavericks visit MetLife Stadium for a memorable experience hosted by the New York Jets

The Mercy Mavericks proudly participated in the ECAC Women’s Flag Football Media Day hosted by the New York Jets on Feb. 27, 2026, at MetLife Stadium, an event that celebrated the continued growth of women’s collegiate flag football and the future of the sport across the Northeast. The experience brought together coaches, administrators, and student-athletes from across the ECAC for a landmark day centered on opportunity, visibility, and advancing women’s athletics.
For the Lady Mavericks, the visit to MetLife Stadium was unforgettable. Walking through one of the most iconic venues in professional sports created a breathtaking and emotional moment for many of the student-athletes, reinforcing how rapidly the sport is growing at the collegiate level. The atmosphere inside the stadium, combined with the opportunity to represent Mercy University on such a major stage, made the event feel like a once-in-a-lifetime experience for the program.
“This was truly groundbreaking for our players and for the future of women’s flag football,” said Michael Perrota, head coach of the Mercy Mavericks. “To stand inside MetLife Stadium alongside other emerging programs and see the support from the New York Jets and the ECAC was incredibly powerful. Our student-athletes felt seen, valued, and inspired. It was one of those moments they will remember for the rest of their lives.”
The event also highlighted the growing partnership among the New York Jets, the ECAC, and participating institutions committed to building sustainable opportunities for female student-athletes. As women’s flag football continues its rapid rise nationwide, the Mercy Mavericks left MetLife Stadium energized and motivated to help shape the sport’s future.
