Mavericks Reflect on Memorable Inaugural Season
Head coach praises the passion, resilience, and foundation built by the Mavericks in year one.
The inaugural season for the Mercy Mavericks was about far more than wins and losses. It was about building something meaningful from the ground up, creating a culture, and giving a group of determined young women the opportunity to become pioneers in one of the country’s fastest-growing sports.
From the very first practice to the final whistle of the season, this team represented Mercy University with toughness, passion, resilience, and heart. Every player who wore the Mercy jersey helped lay the foundation for this program’s future, and the growth shown throughout the season was truly special to witness.
“I could not be prouder of these women,” said Michael Perrota, head coach of the Mercy Mavericks. “They believed in this program before it had a history, before it had traditions, and before anyone knew what it could become. They showed courage, commitment, and an incredible bond as teammates. What they accomplished this season went far beyond the scoreboard.”
